Short CV and publications

Michael Haas is a researcher with the Global Security Team at the Center for Security Studies (CSS), ETH Zurich. He specializes in theories of strategy and military operations, air/missile and sea power, advanced conventional weapons, and U.S. grand strategy and defence planning since 1945. 

Michael is also a doctoral candidate at the Institute for Security Policy, Kiel, where he is currently writing his thesis on the evolution of the U.S. system of transoceanic power projection and the problem of strategic access, focusing primarily on the Cold War era. Prior to joining the CSS, he was a graduate research assistant at the Peace ResearchInstitute Frankfurt (PRIF) and a teaching assistant at the Department of Political Science, University of Innsbruck.He holds a Mag. phil. in Political Science from the University of Innsbruck, Austria, and an MScEcon in Intelligence and Strategic Studies from Aberystwyth University, Wales/UK.
