Center for Conflict Analysis and Crisis Management

The Department of Conflict Analysis and International Crisis Management at the ISPK is concerned with the actors, causes and dynamics of armed conflicts in regions characterized by fragile statehood. At the same time, the diverse civilian and military measures taken by the international community to end these conflicts are of research interest to the department.

The department's staff advises, among others, the German Foreign Office, the Federal Ministry of Defense, various parliamentary groups in the German Bundestag, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), the Kiel Institute for the World Economy, and NATO. The department's objective is to provide policy-relevant expertise and analyses that are based equally on theory and practice.
