Conference: "Europe's Strategic Choices 2020" in cooperation with Chatham House and the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung

Europe’s Strategic Choices (ESC) 2020

On Thursday 5 and Friday 6 November 2020 the seventh annual Europe’s Strategic Choices conference will take place. The conference series, hosted by the Institute for Security Policy at the University of Kiel, Chatham House, and the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, aims to explore and understand the complex set of challenges facing Europe in the areas of security, economic competitiveness and global influence.

This year’s conference will be hosted online, via Zoom and Conference +, bringing together a broader mix of international participants than is possible in person. Participants will be enabled to engage in live question and answer sessions with expert panels and high-level conversations between policy-makers and decision-makers, participate in live polls during the sessions, and interact with fellow participants using the networking tool. Discussions will be on the record throughout and over the course of the conference.

The agenda will consider the impacts of the COVID-19 crisis on Europe’s future and how it interacts with an already highly-charged political environment, including the US presidential election, increasingly difficult relations with China and the perennial challenge of delivering growth and social wellbeing alongside structural changes in economic competitiveness and disruptive technological change.
